illustration friday: magnify

Objects in water (like our problems) often appear larger than they are.

Mom, still thinking about you

August 21, 2003 is the day my mom passed away. Life has never been the same.

Illustration Friday - Caution

Caution: one day things are all bright and cheery and the next thing you know, kaboom.

(So enjoy each moment!)

Illustration Friday: Impatience

Not worthy. The worst kind of impatience is when I'm impatient with me. Which is often. (I'm working on it!) :-)

illustration friday: modify

Home sweet home.

Ok, I know this is a bit morbid (and existential). Or at least it seems that way. But consider that when we die, our bodies are modified in a new way, and if we are able to accept the reality of our own dying, living becomes more meaningful. And (as some Buddhists say) if we become comfortable with the notion of the impermanence of everything, it is easier to let go of attachments, and attachment is what causes suffering.

How's that for a cheery way to start a Friday!!! :-)))))

Illustration Friday - tango

So, this was drawn in a tiny cafe called Pan Y Arte in the Boedo district of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the birthplace of the TANGO! :-)

Illustration Friday - worn

This is a painting called "It all looks different now that mom has cancer." I realize now (mom's been gone for almost 6 years) that I'm wearing different "glasses" now, and it feels a lot less dark than it did then. Still miss you mom!

Illustration Friday - unfold

Death changes people. It is one of the most profound ways in which life unfolds.

Hug someone today. And remember all there is to be grateful for. :-)

Illustration Friday - adapt

I'm out of the comfort zone. So I'll have to adapt. :-)

Have you taken a risk lately?

breakfast with Bill

I rarely post drawings as fresh as this one. Had breakfast with Bill Ross, fellow blogger, illustrator, deep thinker and aspiring screenwriter. If you look closely you might just recognize this sketch here. :-)

Illustration Friday - theater

Lost on the way to the theater, where I have a part in a play, in which I play a man who is lost on his way to the theater. Again. Seems he is always lost.
