Wish you were here :-)

I'm off for a few days to the beautiful mountains and lakes in central Idaho. Be back soon, promise!

Hi Mom.

Still thinking about you. In honor of my mom, who passed away August 21, 2003. :-)

3 ladders

Ladders are a favorite (or favourite, if you're from some strange place like down under) subject, as some of you remember from this post. This painting/collage is also a favorite, and is creative volley number 24 with Jen. :-)

Famous in 31 days

So I was teaching a class in Syracuse last week, and while there I meet fellow blogger Leigh (murphy girl) for coffee. Next thing we know we are being interviewed by this wacky (and very funny) guy who is making a movie so he can become famous in 31 days. And the interview with us is now on his site! Click here for the interview, and here for his site, which explains the whole thing. He's completely nuts!

Ed has magic hands

This is the drawing that inspired the painting of the same name. Ed and I went to the Dallas Museum of Art, and did some drawings of each other. This was my favorite.

High Sierra!

Tomorrow I will be going to the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy, CA. It's becoming a 4th of July tradition. To all you Americans, have a great holiday, and to those of you in other countries, have a great Wednesday! :-)

Illustration Friday - Twist

Here's the twist: this painting is called Not Inspired Again (click it to see it larger). Why is it when I'm not inspired, that inspires me?

Creativity is a funny animal. :-)

Illustration Friday - Camouflage

So I'm in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (I'm wearing camouflage shorts) and a small, mean woman who works there tells me I'm not allowed to use a pen in the museum. When she wasn't looking I finished the drawing (which is below, of a Picasso and a Matisse on top of each other), then I went outside where I drew the top sketch, and put devil horns on her head. I felt better immediately. ;-)

Ciao Italia, Ciao Sopranos, Hello JFC

This drawing was done on the way back from Italy some years ago. It seemed appropriate for the day after the Sopranos final episode. I liked the final episode, loved the way it ended. And I also liked the premier of John From Cincinatti (is it just me or does anyone else think that JFC also stands for Jesus F. Christ, which was said toward the end of the episode?) :-)

Illustration Friday - Suit

Being lost just doesn't suit me any more.
Am I lost? Still working on that one.

All i want is to understand...

How about you?

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe
Impossible things."

"I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the
Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an
hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as
six impossible things before breakfast."

--Lewis Carroll

In honor of Memorial Day

Although I did this drawing shortly after 9/11, it makes sense for today. Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day!
