Illustration Friday - Clean?

Ladders, ladders everywhere. Ok, stay with me here. I had nothing for clean. Zippity. So I thought, clean contains the word "lean" and ladders lean, so I decided to make the definitive ladder post. Below is a new ladder, and underneath are links to many of my favorite ladder drawings from past posts. I love ladders. I love what they symbolize for me. Enjoy. And remember: keep climbing.

Out of the fire
Scotch tape ladder
I'm not
No know
Truth ladder
How can I possibly die?
Ladder puzzle
Believe
Ladder with bleeding ring
Thanks
No pain, no gain
Does life matter?
Clear vision
Why not?
Plan life? Ha!
Only one question
Motivation
All my fault
Wacky ladder
I had a dream about a cheetah, and in it, I was Jesus.
Sex ladder
Opposites
Ladder with door
Black heart
Another meaningless sketchbook
It's crazy in here
I really do
Four ladders and one flower
How I eventually came to know nothing at all
All I can do is enough
Fallen ladders
There is no reason
See where you need to go
Box with ladder
Ladder with boobs
I really do hate being sick
Is there anything left to ask?
What would happen?
Hand, eyes and ladder
climbclimbclimb
What am I a slave to?
A very complicated life
Ladders with keyhole
Climbing out
My path
Pay attention

  2. Keep climbing...I like that... a lot. Hey, well, it's also a great way to get those 'Buns of Steel'...hehe. But I like the metaphor mostly....

  3. In a way it COULD be a metaphor for clean Willie--leaving behind all the dirty bs of a complicated life? Great drawing!

Great ideas. My first take on the ladder people was caskets buried one on top of the other...

  17. you are sooo awesome the laughter you provoke hurts...

  18. Well, I didn't look at all the ladders, but I looked at enough to see that there are some recurring themes...truth, love, sex, religion. It seems you've leaned your ladder against Dr. Maslow's pyramid, and you are pondering each level as you climb towards self-actualization! It's a lot of fun to see your visual musings on the way up!

  19. I trust you! you are a real ladder-fan!

    Once I saw a ladder-fan in a flat -
he was lying flat on the flour - because there were no ladder -
the lad didn't like this lack of ladders -
he cried: give me some ladders!

    PS: I like your humour!

  75. Great piece again! I like your style. Reminds me a lot of Aboriginal art which is very much concerned with lines.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The other day my wife asked me what happened if you posted something for Illo Friday that was totally not on theme, so I garbaged on about "recontextualisation in art," etc.

Thankyou, though, you've answered the question (while raising a heap of others, along with your ladder), and made art seem relevant on a Friday, which is no mean feat.

I enjoyed your Skies and Hokey-Pokey too... well, maybe not the hokey-pokey so much :).
