Love the illustration, as usual...spanning this week the world of graphic design and illustration which ROCKS. And the Douglass quote is perfect for all of us. Thanks for giving my Friday some context! Best regards--
great concept and work baronet (how do you manage to get the first slot on the new IF by the way?). I would add that an island could be the place where you finally find yourself. in fact you need to be detached to find yourself! joking a bit mario www.nerosunero.org
(now let try to decipher the word verification here below... a difficult one, as difficult sometime is the interpreation of some works for IF)(joking again!!!) got it!
This is fabulous Willie. The play with words and letters and the concept is brilliant :) This is one hell of a spot! Great coordinates... of "color" I mean :)
I am not sure WHERE you are, but my best guess is southern CA. As for the change of style, I like it! I also really really like maps. All kinds of maps.
But be careful because if you go too far it could turn on you. The maps I mean. After all maps spelled backwards..... is ---- (YEP!)
I like this work more than the works drawing only with lines!

Instead of "Where's Waldo" -- it's Where's Willie!

ReplyDeleteThe answer is: under the smog cover in LA.
ReplyDeleteall the time. nice piece.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a diversion from typical style is refreshing, eh? This looks more Basquait-like than your line drawings. I like both.
ReplyDeleteI think it's brilliant that you used a map to ask where you fit in!
ReplyDeleteYou fit in the art world Willie, that's a given :)

I think we as artist all feel that way sometimes. We are plagued by our own feelings, but that is what makes us see what we see. Great collage.

MAP SPELLED BACKWARDS IS SPAM! I GOT IT! (took me a minute...)
ReplyDeletei really dig this. the black is very powerful but the collage play is pretty whimsical, alive. so, it's a great duality piece, willie! :)
Thank you for your answer. Didn't think it was that simple! I thought I have to tweak the codes for the template. Cheers! :)
