Illustration Friday - Help

As strange as many of my dreams are, I always find they help me get clarity about stuff going on inside. And I am always grateful for that.

Did I mention strange??

I have breakfast with a pirate

Remember the contest?

Ok, I don't blame you if you don't. It was a long time ago and I am still doling out drawings to the winners. This very patient winner is Jess (check out her blog!), who did massive research (she claims) to win the prize.

I went all the way to DC to draw her in person (no shizzle) and had a fabulous time talking with her about life, law, the battle of the sexes, and of course, The Simpsons. That she is such a Simpsons fan is enough to make me worship her, but she was all kinds of adorable to boot. Here's to Jess! :-)

Tag. I'm it.

I have been tagged by Geninne for the Christmas Song game. I am to list 5 of my favorite Christmas songs and then tag 5 others to do the same.

My FAVORITE Christmas songs:

1. You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
2. Blue Christmas, by Elvis
3. Christmas Time is Here (from Charlie Brown)
4. Joy to the World (by Three Dog Night)
5. 12 Days of Christmas (by Bob & Doug McKenzie, so take off, hoser)

I'm taggin':

1. Trixi
2. Jess
3. Richard
4. Katinka
5. Jocelyn

What are the things I really want to say? Who is really underneath? Am I brave enough to own my truth?

Self doubt

A theme in my life, especially in the past. :-)

Adventure

Manyeleti game reserve, South Africa. We walked up to these 2 beasts to the point that we could hear the low rumble of their growling, and see the flicking of their tails. A very primal experience.

A creative volley with Jen.

Life is?

There are some empty spaces in the question mark. I would love to know what life is to you. :-) I eagerly await your comments.

Another great idea I've yet to execute...

Years ago I drew this idea for a mobile. Copy and enlarge everything in my wallet, as well as the outside of my wallet. It would be very cool me thinks. I can almost see my huge Albertson's reward card wafting in the breeze from the living room air vent.

So many ideas, so little initiative. :-)

Happy birthday to me (belated)

Since my birthday just passed (Oct 20) I find myself asking questions like this. And feel free to click on the pink birdie and sing Happy Birthday to me. As one very special blogger did (with a bunch of drunk friends with Canadian accents).

Illustration Friday - Wind

It's possible, I suppose, that this could have something to do with wind. You'll have to decide that. :-)

Coming home

Sad. Joyful. Changed. Deepened. Above all, grateful. I'm getting ready to begin the 30+ hour trek from Cape Town to Johannesburg to Dakar (for fuel) to Washington DC to Dallas. And hopefully to more regular blogging! Have a glorious day, and let me know if you want a link to all the pics. :-)

Sunrise at Pungwe

I spent 4 glorious days at Pungwe bush camp in the Manyeleti game reserve. One morning we awoke to this misty sunrise. Moments later we were beginning a four hour walk through the bush and came upon a breeding herd of elephants, who were not very happy to see us. That is better than caffiene for getting one's heart rate going, trust me. :-)

Glorious Cheetah

Greetings from South Africa! My blogging will be sparce for the next couple of weeks, but for good reason. I am in areas without electricity, much less wifi. :-) One of my lifelong dreams was to see cheetahs in Africa, and now I have! Went to a cheetah refuge outside Pretoria and it was magnificent. More to come, but leave comments when you can, and I'll catch up soon. Have a glorious day!

How many times am I in this picture? :-)

Bonus points for knowing where this was taken. And those of you who've already seen this, keep your pieholes zipped. xoxo ;-)
