Illustration Friday - Twist

Here's the twist: this painting is called Not Inspired Again (click it to see it larger). Why is it when I'm not inspired, that inspires me?

Creativity is a funny animal. :-)

I really like the coarseness and abstract style - you handled non-inspiration well!

  11. Willie- you are always inspiring! I got "upbraided" for using a pen to sketch in a museum here in Tyler (yes! we have a museum!) But I thought it was just a Tyler thing- but I really think they were very uncomfortable seeing a living artist actually sketching. What added to the weird experience was that on exhibit was a sketchbook of an artist's sketches freom a museum!

very nice! My favorite part is how the fingers are olive green; which - of course - would go with that martini!

  32. Nice feel to this...really like the layering in the background...with regards to your art museum sketch visit...a couple of years ago I found this out too, so when I took the class on a field trip I informed them pencils only with their sketchbooks...when we got there one girl (who was a horrible student all around but wanted to try to impress the 87 year old lady that was our tour guide) was using her pencil as a pointer while she 'critiqued' a Monet...she kept waving it around and got within two inches of the painting with each swoosh...I flashed between wanting to strangle the kid and trying not to laugh as the old woman's eyes kept getting bigger and bigger and she was trying to keep from jerking the pencil out of her hand...

  35. I'm just here to bow down with the masses Willie - great work.

Do you actually have a job? Work at home? How do you manage to be first so often - I mean a line drawing is one thing, but a painting is something else again.
