5 drawings I don't particularly like

Sometimes my pen just won't do the curves the way I want it to.

Chicken salad chicken shit? I don't remember what this was even about.

A school that didn't accept me into their grad program.

I do kind of like the cat in this one. Btw, this is a tribute to Crackskull Bob (Wally Torta).

This was the last page in an old sketchbook. I wanted to throw it back.

Illustration Friday - strings

Sarah wants to honk less at others and Michael is quitting smoking and Kerri's lesbian dog eats her panties.

Conversations are a series of very disparate subjects that seem to be connected by the thinnest of strings. But that's what makes them so fun. :-)

Illustration Friday - sugary

I wish I could offer a reasonable explanation, but I can't. There is something sugary (and disturbing) about this. Maybe I chose it because I predicted lots of happy and sweet images in reponse to this topic.

Have a glorious day. ;-)

Illustration Friday - packed

A lot packed into this meeting. :-)

Illustration Friday - Clique

The things on my desk have formed a clique. And they're very dangerous. ;-)

In completely unrelated but important news, my friend Paul (who was hit by the truck) is still in rehab, and slowly getting better. I am playing in a golf tournament to help raise money for his family. If you'd like to support me with a donation, you can do that here. Thanks so much!

Illustration Friday - island

Sometimes I feel like an island, and am disconnected from my purpose, and where I fit in.

Illustration Friday - memories

I will never forget this little girl. She was passing out little cards to raise money on a bus in Buenos Aires. She was tiny and had the sweetest little Spanish voice as she went from seat to seat hoping to get some change. I think she had a black eye which broke my heart, but it was her resolve that really moved me. And when she saw me drawing she stopped and looked over at my sketchbook and started talking to me in Spanish, like she was curious about what I was doing. I explained that I didn't speak Spanish, and she kept right on talking. I ached to know what she was asking me. I still do.

Although I suspect what really hurt was that I wanted to save her, and I couldn't.

Patricia and her mighty pencil

In a belated portrait exchange, here is my late drawing of Pati. Thanks for being so patient! You can see the one she did of me here.

Illustration Friday - routine

my little world.

Illustration Friday - detach

Not sure why, but this just seemed to fit the topic. Because I'm detached when I dream? Or detached from needing to remember? Or am I just crazy and/or deluded? :-)

grieve for the things which he has not,
but rejoices for those which he has."

Illustration Friday - Sail

I always prefer flying instead of sailing. Typical view from the cheap seats, right before the bald guy in front of me leans back and spills my drink in my lap and onto my computer bag, with a wailing baby and 2 drunk passengers providing the soundtrack.

Maybe I should take up sailing?

You may remember this post: things I notice on the airplane ride.

Today is 8/8/08. :-)

Illustration Friday - poof!

And just like magic, one day they all start to transform. Some creak, some stop working, and some just start to look funky. :-)

Cityscape

Andrea (big gay dragon) organized a moleskin exchange for 12 artists from all over the place. We each bought our own, and each month we draw several pages then mail them off, so that in the end we will each have a complete moleskin drawn in by everybody. It's been fun and intimidating. This was one of my drawings that I sent off and will never get back. Sigh. Click here to see more from the whole gang.

Illustration Friday - enough

It's never, ever enough. :-)

p.s. See my previous post, how coincidental is that??
