  1. I hadn' seen that quote ~ it made me laugh. I like what you've come up with for this week's challenge...simple in looks, but a deep concept.

  2. Ah yes... that box of change...
    Love this illo!

  3. I have to disagree with the quote. I thrive on change, and stagnate if things remain the same, even if the changes are difficult. The key I think is to stay present with whatever is happening, go with the flow...if that's not to presumptuous.

    Great, thought provoking illustration anyway.

  4. Have just found this blog through Illustration Friday and absolutely adore and feel a real connection with a lot of the drawings on here. I really like the slightly skewed mixture of text and image. Perhaps just because I can recognise something of myself in these pieces (ah yes, we like the things that don't ask us to change what we like/do).

Would love to do one of my gravy-songs for you? Would you be up for it?

  5. I don't know Willie but I'd imagine some wet babies are probably quite happy in their piddle. hey, that can be an analogy to our current President (but I won't turn this into a political rant). Anyhow, this is a very clever drawing and the words are very true. Great work!

  7. Wow. We're going through some stuff at work that makes this very applicable. I may have to use this in a meeting.

  10. The key is not to think out side of the box. But to realise that there is no box.
    It's a zen thing.
    Or the Matrix.
    I get confused.

  13. Elegent concept! I love this :)

Yes, if the key is locked inside, it has to be opened by a master locksmith.

  14. Ditto with Tammy! I love change ... maybe that's why circles don't work for me.

BUT, I do love your illo ... hey, isn't that my key? Hmm...

  15. Tammy, the quote was just for fun. :-) I do know some people do love change. I am one of them. Have a glorious day!

    But they prefer folding money.

Cool concept. You made me work it out but that's the fun of it.

  18. You just have to draw the key on the outside of the box, silly.

  19. Yep, that's the key! Very funny saying...made me laugh out loud!
Visiting your blog is like a party.

  20. I like it! Simple and effective. And your quote is funny.

  21. Hmmm..well, perhaps the key locked inside the box is really a reflection of the quote...imagine if there were no chnage, how stagnant everything would be! Perhaps change is the key, but many people resist it, locking their minds into what's familiar. Or maybe not... One thing for sure...it's always good to chnage a stinky diaper:>

    makes you think doesn't it?

change usually ends up being a beneficial thing in the long run (although usually a little difficult at first)
if you can get to the key it will right itself eventually

So if I don't embrace change, I get diaper rash? Sounds reasonable. I appreciate that you didn't go for a visually literal interpretation of the quote (which is what idda done). Nice, Willie!

  32. What to do?

It depends - if it's the key to the room with the lawn mover, I would say: sad - but nothing we can do..

But if it was the key to the frontdoor and it was raining, I would find a very strong tool to fix it as fast as possible - maybee the neighbour owns such a tool?

I think the will to make changes depends ..
