  2. your flowers make me smile, too (good thing, becuse that black stone makes me sad! i guess i'd rather see something there (for closure?) than have it blacked out...it's disturbing. but i understand it goes with the quote!). they always make me think, too!

  3. I really like sketches and draws, i don´t mind, if they are simple, if they have something else. Like yours.
    It´s simple, but it´s great.
    Sorry my bad english.

  4. Took me a second, didn't realize it was a headstone at first...perhaps it's the blackness, but that works in its own way...Now that I get it, it's really powerful and appropriate for this week's theme. And I love how you draw flowers!

I like the way the flowers spring up right from the heart.

And of course I like the way the headstone is a black tunnel to...

  14. It's a sad drawing - death is the great leveller and the final silence. But the touch of colour in the flowers makes it beautiful.

  29. willie,
I just visited my Dad's grave and would have loved seeing some flowers coming out of the ground like yours!
Oddly enough, my mother is 86 and her days are numbered...the foundation on her markeris moving in the direction of Dad's ...kind of sweet.

  33. Before reading other comments, I thought the black was an arched doorway and wondered where you would end up if you went through it, but now I realize it is a headstone. (I guess you could still wonder similarly.) The flowers are terrific.

    Hey Willie,

So true--death the great unifier. Your drawing reminds me of some photos I took at Greenwood cemetery in New Orleans. It was a grey and overcast day, all of the monuments awash in varying shades of colorlessness, with the bold colors of the flowers and flags in stark contrast.

    Sincerely,
    Robert
