Illustration Friday - Sticky

This is what life looks like from the point of view of a packet of ketchup that has been stepped on. Which by the way, is very STICKY.

  1. Literate ketchup would say "been down so long it looks like up to me."

Hey, are you and Dave MacIntyre in some sort of ketchup cabal?

    Great POV, WB!

  6. Murder. What a horrid scene. Shocking and graphic. I clutch my chest and cry out, "The death. The carnage. Ah, humanity!"

  7. I suppose the answer is: everything is small and thank God that dreadful burger with his yucky salad, too! Oh, there was no question. Well... (a good linework always awakens words in me)

  9. so mustard and mayo packets have a similar view looking up from the heights they have fallen from? this a great idea and a wondeful angle on it all

This is great! The flow and shapes of the style remind me so much of Seb Jarnot's work. Very nice!

How could the ketchup see its self?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Such a pretty mess.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The ketchup can see itself because it is having an out of packet experience.

  15. what a unique perspective!

  21. my only thought would be how the mustard and mayo would feel in a similar predicament.

  29. Very unique perpective Dubya-Bee.

So is the Ketchup packet looking towards fast food heaven? I thought I spotted a heavenly milkshake looking down on it, telling it to "come to the light."

PS: I think McNuggets get stuck in limbo by default.

  31. nice perspective.
    :-)

p.s. My word for sticky ketchup on the floor is crudsup.(as well as the stuff around the cap when you don't wash the bottle)

  32. Condiment package life. Months (sometimes years) of listless boredom, then - sudden, rupturous death at the hands of a patron or the foot of a passerby. We must all take a moment and reflect upon the injustices and incongruities of existence.

  37. How existentialist of you, Willie. A rather weighty treatment of this week's topic, I'd say.

This reminds me of one of Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants books (my kids love the series) where George and Harold put packets of ketchup under toilet seats and when someone sits down they burst all over the place making a big ketchuppy mess, this is called making "squishies".

Nice drawing, a very original point of view (pun intended) I like the ripe-to-burstingness quality of the tomato on the packet.

  38. Beautiful perspective and I never thought i'd feel sorry for a packet of squished and sticky catsup-but i do. Wow, unique take on the theme-love it!

  43. Loving it!

Here in southern Africa ketchup is known as "tomato sauce". It took me several nasty pasta sauce cooking experiences to figure out that it wasn't the same product I knew back in the US.

  44. up at me does!

i love it. :) so stark and alone and... sticky.

dried cat-sup is effing HARD to remove.
